Gwendolyn's Style File: Volume Two

With Spring comes more sunshine, and the need to protect Gwendolyn's eyes from harmful rays. Up to now, we haven't been able to entice her to wear a pair of sunglasses. But a week or so ago, she began asking about buying a pair (too many recent stroller rides with sun in her eyes, Daddy reckons), and Mama obliged today.

And her pair of choice? Burgundy wrap around Foster Grants, with glittery flames shooting down the arms. They even look great worn upside down! Our girl will be the coolest kid on the playground next week, for sure.

Gwendolyn's Style File: Volume One

Gwendolyn often rummages through Mama's footwear collection, trying on shoes and boots and clomping around the master bedroom and bathroom. Here she is, modeling Mama's prized faux leopard skin boots. Note the pair of black stiletto heeled pumps in the background of the first photo -- another favourite pair to try on.

We've had no little sprained ankles so far, thank goodness.

Shhhhh! Artist at work...

The following was captured by Daddy over the weekend -- a video of our resident artist in action.

Note her quiet concentration and the pauses where she puts down the pen. It really seems like Gwendolyn is thinking through what she wants to put on the paper. Fascinating!

(By the way, we're not sure why the video "screen" is now black to start. Hopefully the folks at Blogger are working on a solution...)

You grow, girl!

We thought you'd enjoy this photo of Mama and Gwendolyn having some cuddle time on the couch -- it shows just how big our little girl is getting!

At this rate, she'll be taller than Mama by the time she's six...

Gwendolyn's "Blue Steel"

Those of you not afraid to admit to having watched "Zoolander" will know what we mean.

The outfit she's wearing, Gwendolyn is proud to announce, is part of her collection of "Value Village clothes." Someone must have told her that thrift store chic is all the rage these days.

She shoots...

She scores! Here's a video of Gwendolyn playing her version of Daddy's favourite sport. With budding skills like these, perhaps she'll be a member of the 2026 Canadian Women's Olympic hockey team...?

And carrots, too!

Here's another food breakthrough for you... We have tried for a long time to get Gwendolyn interested in raw carrots. This evening, Daddy decided to have one, and as she has done many times before, G. swooped in for a bite. Instead of letting her spit out the masticated mess into his hand, Daddy insisted she swallow her bite. A half hour later, she was working on her second (big!) carrot and hopping around the living room like a very happy bunny.

Now, if only we could get her re-interested in yogourt...

What is The Queen doing?

Why, pushing her royal stroller full of royal toys, of course! And looking ridiculously cute in those apple pyjamas...

Finally -- the kid tastes (and likes) ice cream!

We weren't sure what's been holding her back, but Gwendolyn has always rejected any attempts to introduce her to the joys of ice cream. Until now.

While we were in Ucluelet, Daddy ordered a serving of apple pie a la mode. He offered Gwendolyn a bit of the ice cream, expecting the usual "no no" reaction -- and was shocked to find she was willing to taste it this time around. Maybe it was the fresh west coast sea air that did it?

To test if the "Ucluelet breakthrough" was really just a fluke, Mama brought home some lovely vanilla ice cream for dessert this evening. Lo and behold, Gwendolyn motored through her own little bowl of the stuff, then mooched more from Mama.

Perhaps she inherited Daddy's sweet tooth after all...
