Daddy is home from the big run...

Because he mentioned it in our last post, Daddy thought it appropriate to tell you that he successfully finished the Bellingham Bay Half Marathon yesterday morning. His time was 1:50:28, only one second behind his running buddy. (Way to go, Steve!)

Yes, it was tough, but we're sure our run was not nearly as hard as the journey of this father/son team, whom we met several times during the course of the race. Congratulations to both of them!

Gwendolyn has adopted Daddy's race number and finisher's medal, and wears them proudly in this photo.

Whew! We're almost through a busy month: the expected bumps in Gwendolyn's pre-school transition and Daddy's final preparations for his upcoming half marathon (!). Here's a wee photo catch-up for you:

First day of (pre-) school

Sorry for the recent lack of postings -- Daddy has been suffering from a tenacious cold these past couple of weeks. We couldn't let today go by, however, without reporting on a truly momentous event: Gwendolyn's first day at Family Montessori School.

Gwendolyn reported this morning that she was excited to be going to pre-school, which was a very good -- and not surprising -- sign. (We ask you: what self-respecting extrovert wouldn't be excited at the prospect of meeting a bunch of new friends?) Mama and Daddy were both there to send Gwendolyn off, and as expected, she happily marched through the classroom door with nary a look back.

Class is in session for only an hour a day this week. We'll increase to two hours a day next week, then move to three per day the week following. Big changes are afoot for Daddy's schedule... What will he do with all that "free" time?

Birthday party = birthday suit

Yesterday was Daddy's birthday, and Gwendolyn felt it appropriate to mark the occasion sans clothing. (She did manage to don a pair of underwear for dinner.)
