Starfish? Check...

We're pleased to report that Gwendolyn successfully completed her first set of swimming lessons this past Saturday morning. Meaghan, her instructor, left the following comments in her lesson book:

Way to go Gwendolyn! You improved so so much this lesson set! It's great to see you doing your back and front swims with less and less help from Mum or Dad. You have almost got those bubbles down pat! Keep practicing and I know you'll get it!

The bubbles Meaghan mentions were part of an exercise designed to encourage our little swimmer to put her face in the water. Gwendolyn wasn't a big fan of that activity, and although she did get at least her mouth in the water on a number of occasions, it was usually with her tongue out and lapping like a dog rather than blowing bubbles.

With her Starfish level now complete, it's on to Duck. The photograph above shows Mama and Gwendolyn taking a well-deserved dip in the whirlpool after the lesson. Her facial expression suggests that G. was none too impressed with her fine accomplishment; we'll attribute the ho-hum look to the impending onset of a wee virus that has kept her under the weather since Saturday afternoon.
