Back from a weekend getaway

Mama, Daddy and Gwendolyn spent last weekend in the Okanagan, the majority of the time with friends Jen and Colin at a lovely cabin on Okanagan Lake. There was plenty of wild weather -- lightning storms and pouring rain -- but also lots of sun and fun.

Gwendolyn was a terrific traveller, braving long stints in her car seat with only small amounts of protest here and there. She also had a great time at the lake, playing in the shallows and even donning her life jacket on the last day for a lake swim. Another highlight for G.: having her nightly bath in the kitchen sink.

After leaving "the camp" on Sunday, the Ronaghans drove down the valley to Osoyoos where they spent the night. There was more swimming, this time in the hotel pool, and a dinner of some of the best Indian food we've ever tasted -- a bit too spicy for G. , though. Monday was spent travelling home at a leisurely pace, with a stop to visit "our" farm in Cawston.

This week, we're all doing our best to keep cool during Vancouver's heatwave of 2009...
