New art supplies

Daddy and Gwendolyn stopped at IKEA this week and picked up a small easel and roll of paper for G's drawing activities. They've been in regular use since they were unwrapped two nights ago. They provide the perfect rainy-day activity -- good, since were into a week or two of wet days here, according to the weather forecasts.

As you can see, there's no more standing on a paper pad lying on the floor; now it's standing on a small step-stool so our little artist can get closer to the action. Daddy and Mama still do most of the drawing, answering Gwendolyn's calls to "dru-wah, dru-wah" which are almost constant whenever she's near her crayons. We can draw the same things day in, day out -- the act of drawing seems to be the key, and not the content.

Gwendolyn's own crayon work is coming along as she gets more confident using sufficient pressure to make marks on the paper -- mostly with the stub of a blue crayon which is her clear favourite. It's too bad Dad and Mama's drawing skills aren't improving at the same rate.

A word of wisdom to other parents contemplating such a purchase: buy more than one roll of paper!
